How did I get so much stuff?!

How did I get so much stuff? Even with my husband and three friends helping, it is taking a frighteningly long time to load up our POD. It’s about 1/3 full now and I leave bright and early Saturday morning.

My husband will stay here to finish up with the packing, cleaning, and painting a couple of rooms (with help from said awesome friends) and will follow me to Golden at the end of the month.

I’ll be driving out there via I-80 and I-76 with a stopover in Des Moines to visit friends I haven’t seen in far too many years. I hope to get to Golden early enough to find an apartment before I start my new job on the 20th. I’ve never driven that far on my own before. I’m not worried about most of the trip, but the thought of going by Chicago is scary. And I’m not sure what Des Moines traffic is like either. I guess it’s good practice for Denver!

I’ve temporarily shut down my Etsy shop (since all my items are now packed!) and I think I’ve remembered to update most of my social media sites. The main ones (Flavors, Facebook, and LinkedIn) are updated. I’ll deal with the other miscellaneous ones as I can.

Even with driving alone cross country and starting a new, intense job in a new state, the scariest thing will be trying to sell our house in this horrible market If anyone reading knows anyone who would like to buy or rent a beautiful, approximately 90-year-old Craftsman-style home in Southwest Michigan near the Lake, let me know!

It has 3 bedrooms with huge walk-in closets (2 in the master bedroom), a room with attached bath and smaller closet on the main floor, 2 full baths, a huge sunny kitchen, open living and dining room and gorgeous built in cabinetry. All the floors and woodwork are original. It has an enclosed front porch with a swing, a large, fenced back yard, a side yard with gorgeous maple trees, a huge garage, and a partially finished basement. I’m even leaving all the appliances including the freezer, dehumidifier, and a window AC unit for the bedroom (the lower level has central AC).

After we’ve packed up our stuff and cleaned the house, I’ll get pictures posted. But seriously, if you know anyone who wants a home or summer home here, let me know!

Now – off to pack some more. Ugh!

Heehee! Where do you think I got the title for my other blog post? (The quilter who went to Golden)? ;)

Your new job just sounds so exciting! It reminds me of my quilt book, ‘The Quilt that Walked to Golden’! What a nice area. We used to live in Denver many years ago.
Be safe and we’ll be cheering you on from Michigan!
